Two robberies almost five months apart happened in the same Spanish Fort Supermarket and authorities have reason to believe they’re connected. The incidents took place at the Publix at 10179 Eastern Shore Dr.
The first one was last August around 1:30pm. A female followed an elderly victim, boldly snatching her wallet out of her purse, just inches from the victim’s face. Over $5,000 worth of prepaid gift cards were purchased at a nearby Sam’s Club less than twenty minutes after the suspect swiped the victim’s wallet.
The second incident occured on January 20th around 10:40am. The suspects walked close to the victim, and while the male suspect distracted her, the other went for her wallet. This time, they charged the victim’s credit card for over two thousand dollars.
